Blu-ray and HD-DVD disc competing storage formats, with a view to the standard DVD format to replace. In fact, they look to the standard DVD in terms of replacing the storage capacity. All these products have backward compatibility, but they will be able to player the standard DVD's. However, they will not play the format of the disc storage competitors. Thus, Blu-ray will not be able to play HD disks, and vice versa.
The truth is that many large companies have invested so much money into their products, to see that they do not want the opposition would, so that the lastwhat they will do that makes them compatible.
After these words, Pioneer and LG is the announcement that they are produced, would be a Blu-ray / dual DVD player. This will undoubtedly have two individual readers, one for Blu-ray and HD DVD. NEC has also announced recently that they have a chip as the processor behind a universal player that is capable of playing both Blu-ray and can be used to create HD DVD's.
